Privacy Policy
Effective: May 7, 2025
Dawn Tap, LLC ("we," "us") owns and operates energy.independent.homes ("Platform") for Energy Independent Homes ("EIH"), a movement to empower energy independence. This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personally identifiable information ("PII") pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.), Arizona privacy laws, and, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679).
1. Information Collected
We collect:
- Names, email addresses, passwords, and optional phone numbers/addresses via registration or scheduling.
- Solar-related data (e.g., roof size, azimuth, tilt, energy demand) provided by users or obtained from public records.
- Usage data (e.g., IP addresses, click patterns) via site analytics.
2. Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies:
- Laravel session/CSRF cookies for authentication and security.
- Google Analytics cookies for performance analysis.
- Acuity Scheduling cookies for appointment booking.
- YouTube cookies for video embeds, subject to YouTube’s policies.
Users can manage cookie preferences via browser settings.
3. Use of Information
PII and solar data are used to:
- Authenticate users and facilitate appointment scheduling.
- Generate quick estimates (kept in-house) and verified quotes (via EIH experts).
- Analyze Platform performance and improve services.
4. Disclosure to Third Parties
We disclose PII and solar data as follows:
- Quick Estimates: Data is processed in-house by VIZRIZ (a Dawn Tap technology partner) and not shared externally.
- Verified Quotes: For users scheduling appointments, EIH experts share data with vetted contractors, solar dealers, financiers, and manufacturers (via their sites) to verify quotes, with user consent.
- Third-Party Services: Acuity Scheduling (booking), Zoom (meetings, currently via redirects, future API integration), and YouTube (video embeds) collect PII per their policies.
We do not sell PII and have no plans to do so, aligning with EIH’s mission.
5. Zoom API Integration
Upon adopting the Zoom API, meeting data (e.g., participant names, emails) will be processed on the Platform, with encryption and compliance with Zoom’s terms, CCPA, and GDPR. Users will be notified of updated practices.
6. User Rights
Users may request access, deletion, or modification of PII (e.g., names, emails, phone numbers) by contacting compliance@dawntap.com. We retain anonymized data and standalone addresses for operational purposes. EU users have GDPR rights (e.g., data portability, erasure).
7. Data Security
We use encryption, secure servers, and NDAs with contractors to protect data. However, no system is infallible, and users assume associated risks.
8. Future Structure
If EIH transitions to a decentralized cooperative, data practices will remain consistent, with VIZRIZ or another partner processing data under these terms.
